In depth

Verdict

An interesting contest with some well bred newcomers from powerful yards in opposition and the market should provide plenty of clues. Ed Dunlop's yard suffered from the virus last season but all appears well once again with the stable already boasting two three-year-old maiden winners so Racing Night, who is a Lear Fan half-brother to several winners, is entitled to plenty of respect. Geoff Wragg saddled a first-time out maiden winner last week and Always Esteemed, who also makes plenty of appeal on breeding, could easily add to the score while Mark Johnston's Fantastic Love and Mick Channon's Wood Chip are others who should be closely monitored. Of those to have raced, Bint Alhaarth showed plenty of ability in five juvenile starts and hails from an in-form yard but may prove vulnerable to an above average newcomer.
