In depth

Verdict

Anythingtoday completed a double in 2017 but hasn't won since and is only 4lb lower. He's been racing in better company but hasn't proved he stays this far. Desert Point won in France and was showing his first sign of ability for new connections when third in a better race than this at Haydock though that was over 2m. Benadalid won a Class 2 course and distance handicap last summer and is on exactly the same mark so a return to that kind of form would put him in the picture. Doctor Cross is another with a track and trip victory to his credit but he finished a long way last at Catterick when last seen in October. AIYA cost 250,000gns as a two-year-old and is a half-brother to six winners including Irish Derby winner Frozen Fire. He hasn't lived up to his pedigree but was having only his second start for Tim Easterby when beaten a neck here last week and can go one better.
