        Verdict

        The selection here is Starry Rose, who is nominated ahead of Earl Marshal and Ridge Rose. Not many of these have shown form so the following have to get mentions. Crystal Prince, who has shown some reasonable maiden form at Nottingham and Haydock in his last two starts, Sir Michael Stoute's Earl Marshal, who was just touched off at Leicester on soft going when tried in a first-time visor, Ridge Rose, who was just under four lengths behind him on that occasion, and Starry Rose, who was six lengths ahead of Crystal Prince when they met at Haydock last time. Our vote goes to Starry Rose.
