In depth

Verdict

OLYMPIC ODYSSEY had been well beaten at big odds in all three maiden starts last season but it was a different matter on his reappearance and handicap debut at Nottingham on Monday. Heavily backed, he had no problems justifying the support and a 6lb penalty seems unlikely to prevent a quick double. Blue Havana followed a narrow defeat at Beverley with another in a better race at Thirsk where she just failed to hold Princess Nearco. She looks a threat while the Newmarket challenger Balgowlah has only had four runs and showed a bit more promise at Lingfield. Bigdabog has been beaten a long way on all starts and the remainder are difficult to fancy.
