In depth
Verdict
The market could be a good guide here, but ones to put on the short list are Saida Lenasera, Douglas and Red Damson and we will just go with the first named to defy top weight and follow up her recent Catterick win. There was plenty to like about that seven furlong success, with the Fasilyev filly setting about chasing the leader from a fair way out, sticking on gamely to wear down Nahane and eventually getting home with a neck to spare. She looks the type to do better over further here and she can go in again. Two-year-old guru Richard Hannon sends up Douglas, a Marju colt who will be the fancy for many in the light of his trainer's record in these events. He is not dismissed lightly here, but thus far he has won a seller at Newmarket which would not be up to much and then encountered steering problems last time, so he could just be a difficult ride and is perhaps best watched here. Of the remainder Red Damson showed ability when stepped up to this trip last time out and should be a tough nut here now that the penny has dropped, while Yarn Spinner merits a mention for a staying-on success in a Catterick seller last time, and over further here he might be good enough to make the frame again, but our clear preference is for Saida Lenasera.
