In depth

Verdict

A very tricky apprentice handicap to start the card and we will give the vote to Dr Synn, with Scarlet Knight and Hamilton House put forward as the main dangers. John Akehurst's charge disappointed at Goodwood last time out but is better judged on his previous run when finishing an excellent second behind Outer Hebrides. The stable is amongst the winners and a big run is expected. Phillip Mitchell's charge Scarlet Knight has been steadily dropping down the handicap and almost took advantage last time when just a length behind Henry The Second at Kempton. He doesn't win very often but does have his best chance for a while. Patrick Hills is on board Hamilton House and this one should appreciate the drop back to a mile having failed to stay ten furlongs last time out. All in all a very difficult race to assess and Dr Synn just gets a narrow vote
