In depth

Verdict

Special Reserve should be able to take a maiden and this looks like the easiest task to date so Richard Hannon's colt gets the vote to score ahead of Dolly Penrose, Hamsat Elqamar and Wine 'n Dine. The selection's form figures suggest that a win should be around the corner, and his second to Fiulin reads as arguably the best form in the line-up. His ability to go on the rain-softened ground is not in question and with the third home franking the form with a good second on Thursday, a big run looks on the cards. Wine 'n Dine ran well over an inadequate trip last season at Nottingham and if he has trained on then he should run well, whilst Dolly Penrose displayed some ability in a recent Newbury race and this Hernando filly should be suited by today's longer trip. Newcomers Haveyouwonyet and Ericarrow don't make much appeal, so a more eminent danger may be Hamsat Elqamar who improved from first to second runs and now steps up in trip which looks sure to suit. At a price Light Sea may show up more prominently as the stable start to hit form, however she is likely to be best seen in handicap company and so we will return to Special Reserve to small stakes.
