Verdict
Plenty of runners, many newcomers among them, but Ed Dunlop's Apex can step up on his promising Goodwood debut, when sent off unfancied. The son of Efisio has to concede weight to the field but showed plenty of promise at Goodwood and the third and fifth form that race have won since. Many others have to be considered, though, including Goblin, the only other runner bar the selection to have form at six furlongs. His second to Milk It Mick at Windsor last time make him worthy of consideration. Goblin's stablemate, the newcomer Old Malt, might just lack sharpness on his debut, but others that are certainly worth a second look are Three Welshman, Love Triangle, Kuringai and Bosco, who have all displayed varying degrees of promise and are stepping up in trip, and the newcomers Turtle Patriarch, whose dam is out of a top-class sprinter, La Professoressa and Andrew Balding's cheaply-acquired Daggers Drawn filly, Dubaian Duel. Her purchase price sees her getting weight allowances.
