In depth

Verdict

A trappy affair and Goose Green is the tentative pick with Ravenna and Metropolitan Chief cited as potential dangers. Goose Green was well backed ahead of a recent assignment at Chepstow but he has shown an aptitude for today's surface and with a fair draw, it is to be hoped that losses were only lent to the bookmakers. Ravenna was not knocked about in behind and may have resented the blinkers. Cheekpieces are tried this afternoon.Metropolitan Chief isn't obvious on the formbook but has ran creditably in defeat. Whipcord would be a player if the market support is there. Richard Hannon's team have landed a gamble over the last couple of days so the betting is watched. Prince Of Charm hails from a yard sending out winners but he would need to step up to be competitive. Beckenham's Secret is exposed but connections may persevere with more attacking tactics. This is pretty moderate stuff by any stretch of the imagination and Goose Green is offered up to the mimimum of stakes.
