In depth

Dark Optimist didn't get home in a much better race over 6f at Newbury last week and is better judged on his close third here earlier this month when he had Goodwood Rebel, who was in need of the run, behind. Born To Destroy attracted support on his debut here last week but couldn't quite quicken and he'll be better for the experience. The filly PARTRIDGE cost a whopping €150,000 as a yearling and is the second foal of a mare who produced a two-year-old winner with her first offspring to race. She should be speedy and gets the nod to make a successful debut.

Dark Optimist (IRE) 33-1 (9-5) Steadied start, held up in rear, headway far side of group chasing leaders over 2f out, soon hung left and ridden, weakened over 1f out, last of 8, 6 1/2l behind Temple Of Heaven (9-5) at Newbury 6f stks (2) gd in May.

Good Times Too 12-1 (9-5) Led, headed over 1f out, weakened towards finish, 5th of 7, 5 1/2l behind Charlemaine (9-5) at Brighton 5f mdn stks (5) gf in Apr.
