    Verdict

SALOOMY is likely to be sent off a strong market leader after running well in a Doncaster maiden over a furlong further on soft ground. He performed well enough on good ground on his debut last term and should have the necessary speed here having made the running in Yorkshire the last time. However, it's not easy to assess his main rival in Stir Trader. The Charlton gelding was a 14 length runner-up on his Pontefract debut back in April when the ground was given as soft but was considered far deeper by on-track observers. He's not been seen since and now encounters totally different conditions. Bajan Story has shown ability on both starts and looks the obvious each-way option.
