In depth
Verdict
Just three pounds than for his course and distance win last month, the enigmatic Caribbean Coral can land a tricky affair. His trainer Chris Wall has always rated the son of Brief Truce although that Sandown win was the colt's first success since his two-year-old days. He's not one to have unconditional faith in, but he holds some fancy entries and things might just drop right for him. Even off topweight, Golden Bounty has to be considered. Along with Talbot Avenue, Kathology and Proud Native, they are the other course and distance scorers in the line-up. Another to consider is Tim Easterby's My American Beauty, who comes here in good heart following a Hamilton win in a first-time eyeshield last time. Connect and the now-favourably handicapped Bandanna - for whom Frankie Dettori has been booked - also enter the equation, as does Colonel Cotton, only one pound higher than for the second of his two career wins (which came at The Curragh) and for whom Michael Kinane has been booked. It would also not be considered a surprise if Henry Hall rolled back the years. It's that type of race and Caribbean Coral is a far-from-confident choice.
