slowly into stride, keen hold, never a factor
in touch, ridden and outpaced 4f out, some late headway
tracked leader, ridden to chase winner approaching 2f out, not quickened
slowly into stride, soon in touch, driven for headway 4f out, weakened
made all, shaken up over 1f out, drew clear, kept on well, driven out
tracked leaders, driven over 2f out to chase leaders, soon one pace
held up, keen in touch, ridden over 3f out, stayed on but no chance with winner
An intriguing race in which Mister Monet can build on his promising debut run at York, his biggest dangers possibly being Camrose and Danzig River. Despite the inadequacy of the six furlong trip, the selection finished third to an Aidan O'Brien hotpot on his first run and that should have put him right for this seven-furlong event. By Zafonic, Camrose is closely related to the top-class Most Welcome on his dam's side and any market support for John Dunlop's colt would be interesting. Richard Hannon's Woodman colt, Blaise Wood, also has to be respected, while Carlburg, unplaced in two starts, including the Coventry Stakes, will find this level more to his liking and, being by Barathea, some rainfall would probably not go amiss. By Green Desert, Danzig River is a half-brother to a Prix Marcel Boussac winner, and any support for Barry Hills' runner would also be of interest. The well-bred La Professoressa showed promise on her debut and could improve at this trip, although more will certainly be needed and she did play up before that run. Her stablemate Cadeaux Rouge also showed promise - at this track - on her debut and is also open to improvement. However, this trip is probably the minimum she will require as a juvenile. By contrast, it should ideally suit Mister Monet who is selected to give Mark Johnston yet another juvenile success.
