      Verdict

EL GRECO didn't do a lot wrong when second to Clare Island Boy over 7f here on his racecourse debut. Sir Michael Stoute's Monsun colt, who still holds entries in the Royal Lodge and Racing Post Trophy, will relish this extra furlong and should open his account today. Stoute also runs newcomer Mawaqeet, who cost $525,000 as a yearling, and he is worth noting for future reference while John Gosden introduces Shantaram, who is a full brother to smart miler Gan Amhras. The filly Emmuska, second at Kempton last month, is probably the pick of the remainder but a place may be the best she can hope for back on turf.
