In depth

Verdict

Very little for us to go on here except pedigree and a handful of racecourse runs and it will probably pay to stick with the tried an tested trainers in this sphere, so that means short listing Pure Poetry, Sam Sharp and Muraweg, and we will side with Pure Poetry. The selection comes from the in-form yard of Richard Hannon, and is related to winners over this trip as juveniles. Being by Tagula the ground should suit, and the trainer's record with his two-year-olds this campaign has been excellent, so we are happy to side with this colt. John Gosden's Muraweg has a good pedigree and is related to lots of winners, including over this trip. The ground should suit too, but the trainer has yet to have a juvenile winner this season and so Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum's runner is opposable. Henry Cecil has run just four at this age level so far this season with a 25 per cent success rate. He saddles Sam Sharp here, who has some nice bloodlines but is probably likely to be better suited over further in the future. Perfect Citizen is another to note in the market, while Managua looks best of those to have seen the racecourse, but we are happy to side with Pure Poetry.
