In depth
Verdict
In such a large field it may prove beneficial to have a high draw, in which case the likes of recent winner Silvaline, Sunday's Well and Impersonator are all well placed and the latter gets a narrow vote now that the ground has come in his favour. He proved well suited to give underfoot when beating a large field a large field at Doncaster last back-end, and off just a 2lbs higher mark here, he looks reasonably treated. Silvaline finally got off the mark at Goodwood last weekend and clearly comes here in good form. However, that wasn't the strongest of contest's and he will need to find more under his penalty. Of more interest is the maiden Sunday's Well, a rare runner on the flat for Nick Gaselee. The yard struck on Thursday with another four-year-old maiden and is certainly one to keep an eye on, especially now that the former flat trainer Major David Chapple is assistant to Gaselee. Desert Island Disc has been in cracking form this summer, but it looks as though the Handicapper has hold of her now, while the consistent Factor Fifteen is another who could probably do with a little help from the Handicapper. Freedom Now is from a yard that is finding winners hard to come by, but there was cause for optimism by his effort at Newmarket recently, where he was making his seasonal debut for John Hills, having been campaigned in France last year. He is sure to strip sharper for that effort and he could provide the main threat to Impersonator.
