Verdict
Some very consistent animals take part here including Little Brown Bear, Dragon King and Over The Hill, but Trooper can add to his recent course victory for Andy Crook. Anybody who had backed the nine-year-old last time would surely have thrown their ticket away at halfway as he tailed himself off. But, under an amazing ride from Paul Robson he somehow contrived to not just get back into the action, but to score. It is debatable about the quality of the opposition he beat that day, but with Robson in the saddle again, you would not put it past him following up. Dragon King's trainer Peter Bowen never wastes his trips up from Wales, while Little Brown Bear never fails to reach the frame. Bowles Patrol is a course and distance winner, and Over The Hill is still capable at this level. All in all, this is the best race on the card, and although he may produce a few heart stopping moments on the way round, Trooper gets the nod.
