Verdict

Planters Punch edges preference over Argento and Ball Games in very tricky contest that rounds off the Sedgefield action. Ball Games - winner of two of his last three starts - is sure to be a popular choice in the betting. The James Moffat-trained gelding is effective when he gets it right in this grade and, as previous course winner, he can go close over this trip. Argento has been a grand servant to his connections and is capable of carrying top weight in this company. Still, his rider's 3lb claim will help him today and, assuming that he has come out of his weekend exploits at Haydock unscathed, he should appreciate this ease in grade. However, the same can be said of Planters Punch, who has held his own in decent company recently. He handled firm ground when he raced on the Flat for Richard Hannon and he may have a touch too much toe for his more exposed rivals if this boils down to a dash for the line.
