      Verdict

      Native Eire can come out on top in a competitive affair, with Scotmail Lad and Joe Di Capo others in with a shout. Native Eire, who looks a likely prospect, clocked up two back-to-back wins over the winter, and was then given a break. He can be excused for pulling up on his racecourse reappearance, and proved that when stripping fitter to be a close second behind Shelin Hill at Fakenham recently. On that evidence he will go very close to winning today. Scotmail Lad will be certain to have his supporters as he always tries his heart out, but has failed to enter the winner's enclosure since scoring here last November over two miles. George Moore has put a claimer up to take seven pounds off his contender's back which will help, but we feel that place prospects once again will be his limit. Joe Di Capo has a nice racing weight and although still a novice over fences, his run at Hexham last time out suggests that it will not be too long before he breaks his duck. However, Native Eire has improvement to come and is the selection.
