      In depth

      Verdict

Nelliedonethat ran better at Hexham earlier this month when encountering fast ground and has to be respected despite dropping in trip today but a 2lb rise since then seems harsh and preference is for Alpha Juliet, who gets the vote with Teviot Lass rated the pick of the remainder. The selection has been largely disappointing of late but she prefers a fast surface and may be worth chancing with conditions now to her advantage. Makandy ran better last time but remains a maiden after 16 starts so looks best watched, while Middleway has been out of form over fences of late and is hard to recommend back over hurdles. Teviot Lass is less exposed than most of these and could be of interest on her handicap debut but preference is for Alpha Juliet, who has ground conditions to suit.
