Verdict

A marathon trip here for the 13 declared runners and SHULMIN is preferred to topweight Has Scored. The selection loves it around here and has enjoyed all four of her career wins at the track, three at this trip, and two of them on soft ground. True, she has never yet won from a mark this high, but the form of her recent defeat to Nelliedonethat worked out well enough and given that she is so at home here we will side with her. Has Scored has to concede 3lbs to the selection and that won't be easy. He has never won on ground this soft, nor has he ever produced his best at this track and that might mean that today's task will again be beyond him. Jethro Tull won a handicap hurdle here over a trip similar to today's and he does act in these conditions so he can't be dismissed readily, though he might just have a few pounds too many on his back. Smart Thinker is interesting after a couple of recent runs following a long lay-off will have got him fully race fit and we can anticipate a good run from Ferdy Murphy's charge who can make his presence felt with a feather weight. Tomillielou is a course and distance winner who is 5lbs higher now than when scoring. He acts on the ground and is a potential contender now visored for the first time today. However, Shulmin does love it here and she is taken to land one for the ladies.
