Verdict
The Littlwoods Bet Direct Handicap over seven furlongs, and due off at 3:55, is the feature event on the card. In the most wide open race of the afternoon, dangers abound up and down the list, from topweight Better Off to Noble Locks down at the bottom. The latter, a commentator¿s nightmare, has gone 14 races since his last win, but loves it here, having scored four times in all. He has taken time to get his act together since leaving Kevin Ryan, but his last time out second suggests a return to form. Better Off is already at the top of his game, having won his last two starts, but suffers from joint problems, so will benefit from the fact that Hayley Turner takes off a valuable seven pounds. Providing the fibresand has been harrowed, he will make his presence felt. Hat-trick seeking Mr Bountiful will find this a bit harder than his latest excursions, but Pheckless comes from a stable that does not have many on the all-weather and may trouble them if produced with his customary late burst. Again, this is a bit tougher than his Polytrack victory, the slower surface likely to negate his speed. Parker can be counted an unluck loser at Wolverhampton as his rider failed to switch off the fence at a vital time, the result being a short-head defeat. Neil Callan takes over and a big run is expected. However, that man Dandy Nicholls could have the answer again in the shape of Mister Rambo. The eight-year-old featured in a blanket finish at Catterick last time, and although there were no excuses, it proves there is life in the old dog yet. One or two potential owners thought that he was too old last year when offered as a jumping prospect, but they were made to eat their words when he obliged at York. Lets face it, although this is a competitive affair, it is not in the same league as that event in particular, and Mister Rambo should outclass them.
