Verdict
The seventh and final race on the Southwell card at 5:25 is another trappy event, with one or two looking potentially well treated on their best form. Most though have been sadly absent from the winner¿s enclosure of late and are now lumped together in a sort of motley crew. Not so the likes of Hagley Park, Strawberry Dawn and Stand By who have performed with credit this winter. Of the trio, it is Strawberry Dawn who makes most appeal. She lost her maiden tag over the course and distance in February, despite trainer Jim Boyle¿s reservations about the slow ground, but was unable to get to the front on her next visit and trailed home in the rear. However, it was her most recent effort behind Prime Recreation at Kempton that prompts us to put her forward as the selection. She was 4lb ¿wrong' at the weights but had the speed to cross over from a low draw and press the winner for a long way. That was her first turf placing, and she looks to have come to herself in the spring. Hagley Park should confirm recent Wolverhampton form over Stand By on slightly worse terms, but the form of that race is not as good as Strawberry Dawn¿s, which adds to our confidence in the filly.
