Verdict
Veteran seven-time course and distance winner Alpha Tauri has clearly slipped to a feasible mark having finished a close third over course and distance from a 1lb higher mark two weeks ago (Bold Spirit a further length behind in fourth) and both look capable of making their presence felt. Preference, however, is for the less-exposed ESSENTIAL who made a winning start for this yard when scoring from a 4lb lower mark over course and distance before a credible effort behind a better-class rival in novice company over an inadequate six furlongs. Chaucer’s Tale failed to deliver from a wide draw in a better grade over 1m here on Tuesday but his previous course form entitles him to respect and positive market vibes could be significant.
