Verdict

The Pen was most impressive last time and can follow up today at the expense of Fasylitator and Lottie Dundass. Pat Haslam's filly who is making her all-weather debut, came with a terrific late surge to beat some decent enough types in a Redcar nursery. Her previous efforts in a seller and a handicap also stand up to close scrutiny and if handling this fibresand surface she will be difficult to beat. Falsylitator put up a decent performance on the Polytrack at Lingfield early last month over the six furlong trip and didn't do too badly over a furlong further at Newbury next time. On breeding this mile trip could be a slight worry, but in this weak competition he should figure in the finish. Lottie Dundass is trained by Walter Swinburn who has just taken over from Peter Harris, and this daughter of Polar Falcon has to be considered on her most recent effort in a Pontefract handicap. So a very tough start to the card, but The Pen is progressing nicely and is given the vote.
