Verdict

Low class but ultra competitive is how this race is best described. Armoury House is given the vote to land it for the Tom George / Paddy Brennan combination who hold an impressive strike rate when teaming up together. Lightly raced over fences in comparison to many of his rivals, Armoury House has been disappointing since winning at Towcester in April. The two mile trip last time would have been on the sharp side for Armoury House and the step back up to today's 2m 5f trip will be more in his favour. Got The Gift was not disgraced on his return back from a six month absence last time. He can be expected to strip fitter for the outing but it remains to be seen how he will be suited by the drop back in trip as he has been racing over trips in excess of three miles. Granite Man promised much in the earlier part of his career but has failed to deliver on that promise. A smart handicap hurdler two seasons back, he has not appeared the most straight forward of horses on occasions but is undoubtedly well handicapped on his best form. Great Grimsby is a chasing debutant and who has shown a reluctance to race on more than one occasion. Open to improvement he would have claims if he takes to chasing but it is a big ask in a field of this size on debut against experienced, albeit moderate chasers. Many of these come here with lots to prove with Armoury House one of those but he is given the vote dropping back to a trip that is more likely to favour him.
