Verdict
Marshgate Lane's last victory was in a Class 2 handicap at Wolverhampton in December 2013 but he's been running poorly over hurdles. He's rated 20lb higher than any of these rivals so would be impossible to oppose if back to his best but that was a long time ago. TATTING comes out next best at the weights and, as he has won 11 times on artificial surfaces and is in good heart - he looks the one to be on. Patriotic is rated 1lb lower than the latter and has to concede 9lb taking his rider's claim into consideration so he faces a stiff task despite running well enough in better company than this recently. Blades Lad completed a track and trip double before a disappointing run on a return visit last month though he still looks to have the edge over the remainder.
