    Verdict

Phildari can open his account over fences ahead of Radcliffe and Rose Tina in the opening event on the card. Paul Webber's gelding deserves a change of luck, having found one too good on no less than six occasions over jumps altogether. Since going chasing he has threatened to put matters right, and now could be the time to support him. He has had a break since finishing second over three miles at Ludlow and this shorter trip will not tax his stamina as much. Bumper winner Radcliffe makes his debut over fences and is sure to have been well schooled, while Step Quick has experience of jumping the bigger obstacles in the hunter chase sphere. Rose Tina has not managed to complete on either of her two latest outings and is best avoided at present, and for the winner we return to Phildari.
