Verdict

A most disappointing turn out for the opener but connections of Southerndown won't be complaining as the TEAMtalk selection looks to have the race at his mercy. Richard Lee's charge has hit a rich vein of form of late and is on a hat-trick mission having scored both over the course and distance and at Bangor last time. Those victories came in the manner of a progressive performer and he should have little difficulty in overcoming a subsequent 7lb rise. With Red Emperor returning from a near six-month break, Barton Saint may be able to chase the selection home in receipt of weight from both rivals.
