Verdict

Inspector General, a seven lengths third behind Littlemissattitude in a classified stakes race over course and distance on Saturday drops into claiming company here and, although having to give weight away all round, will be popular choice to do so successfully. Norma Macauley has not had the best of winters on the all-weather but her horses are beginning to run into form so there could be further improvement to come from Illusionist, although is form is arguably better over seven furlongs. Pat Haslam is another trainer who traditionally does well at the track and saddles two, Londolozi Lad and Just Ern, with slight preference for the latter. Former Haslam inmate Air Of Esteem, now trained by David Nicholls, and Temper Tantrum from Andrew Reid's yard are others worthy of a mention but our selection is Dean Ivory's Kumakawa. The son of Dancing Spree failed by the narrowest of margins to beat Kanz Wood over course and distance on Tuesday and, under Chris Cogan, is worth a small investment to go one better.
