In depth
Verdict
A weak contest may see Soliniki return to winning ways, with the likes of Constable Burton, Air Mail and Shielaligh not to be dismissed either. Who would have thought after Soloniki's debut success at Ascot in August 2003 that just four runs later he would be figuring in a seller at Southwell. But that is the case with the son of Danzero who has failed to progress since then. He lost his action when stone last on his Leicester reappearance and has been lightly raced since then. He met interference on his all-weather debut at Wolverhampton in October, and so for one reason or another, has been costly to follow. Unless Jamie Osborne's charge is suffering some deep-rooted injury that has yet to surface, the ability that saw him score at Ascot must still be there somewhere, and it may be seen here. If he does not reproduce that form then there are quite a few rivals to benefit, including Constable Burton, a course and distance winner in the spring. Air Mail is vastly experienced on the all-weather but has not won for two years, while Shielaligh drops another grade and is much better treated compared to his Turf mark. Soliniki gets the vote.
