Verdict

With doubts concerning the trip for both Marabar and Fen Gypsy, the vote goes to Bella Beguine, who is taken to make a winning return to the turf. The selection has been running well in better races than this on the all-weather this winter and comes here fresh following a near three-month break. Alan Bailey's mare is well treated judged by official BHB ratings and is preferred to recent Pontefract winner Marabar, who has a penalty to carry for her success at the Yorkshire venue and has yet to prove her effectiveness over today's trip. Of more interest may be the David Evans-trained Fen Gypsy but she would arguably want further and the shard nature of this track may not be in her favour. Jonny Ebeneezer is best in on official ratings but he seems to be on a downward spiral at present and cannot be recommended with any confidence. Wolverhampton winner Silver Mascot faces a stiff task giving weight away all round but at least is in form at present, while Enna may need this on her return. The vote then goes to Bella Beguine, who is taken to give Darryll Holland another winner.
