In depth
Verdict
Mystery Pips ran a blinder on his reappearance last week and is expected to hold off the inconsistent Percy Douglas and Comic Tales with a similar effort today. Bahamian Bay is also worth a mention, as she easily coped with the likes of Levelled on her penultimate start and could still have more to offer at this level. The three-year-old does have to prove her well being after losing her action here last time out, though and is hard to recommend on that evidence. Comic Tales has often threatened to win a race but has never gone through with his effort when asked to dig deep. It will go down as a very weak contest if he gets off the mark. Percy Douglas, who ran in a couple of Group races as a juvenile, ran, what was for him, a massive race at Ripon on Saturday and has to be respected on that form. However, only he knows if he will reproduce the goods this evening and he will always be a risky contender to throw into the ring for win only purposes. Therefore, we prefer to go with Mystery Pips, who looked to have been revitalised by his break at Wolverhampton last week and he will be very hard to beat if he is in the same frame of mind tonight.
