In depth

Verdict

Midmaar gets the vote over the in-form Beamsley Beacon, while Count Cougar and Doctor Dennis are rated as the main dangers from the remainder. The last named has found his racing shoes of late and shapes as if he can go close in his current frame of mind. The eight-year-old has consistently paid his way with place money since last summer and has an obvious chance of again making the frame here. Count Cougar and Beamsley Beacon are closely matched on the form of their encounter here at the start of this month. However, the latter can just edge that personal battle as he looks the more consistent of the pair. Nevertheless, they will all have to find a little bit more if Midmaar hits the gates running and the Michael Wigham-trained four-year-old, who was rated 63 just six starts ago, can prove that he is still a force to reckoned with in this grade.
