Verdict
Midshipman looks the percentage call over Sudra and See Ya Maite. Midshipman was rated 100 on the all-weather two seasons ago and while it is fair to say that he is not the same horse these days, he ran an encouraging enough race last time out behind Tre Colline over course and distance. Now with Tony Carroll, there is every chance that a change of scenery could have sweetened him up. Sudra won a very weak seller over seven furlongs at the track. He is not the most straight-forward of characters but there is every chance that this trip will suit. See Ya Maite is at the age when he should be collecting a bus pass but he is genuine enough and should be capable of landing a place. Downland makes a debut effort on the surface. If he acts on the surface, he could be a major player in a weak affair. Sonderborg's better form is on the polytrack at Lingfield and he is yet to show any appreciation for the Southwell surface. Banded Stakes winner Dalriath makes most appeal of the rest. Midshipman secures the vote albeit at minimum stakes.
