In depth
Verdict
A furiously competitive heat in which Forbearing is bound to be a popular choice now that he has got his act together for Martin Pipe. However, he has looked a hard ride on occasions and is taken on with Brooklyn Gold in this tougher assignment than he has been handed of late. Mobasher, Master Papa and Travellers Heir are others that have to be placed on the list of alternatives and will not make it easy for the selection. However, Brooklyn's Gold takes a fair drop in class today and can make the most of a good opportunity if he negotiates a safe passage under his regular partner, David Dennis, here. It is only just over a year that Brooklyn's Gold was handing out a beating to the likes of Rigmarole in a much tougher race at Kempton and, as he is in off only an 8lb higher mark, he looks a worthy bearer of top weight this afternoon. Master Papa appeals as the one to give the selection the most to do if his 7lb penalty does not anchor him today.
