In depth

Verdict

Stamina will obviously be the prerequisite but that's not an area in which Universal Soldier is deficient, having landed a course and distance success on the opening day of last year's meeting in the Ladies Point-to-Point Final. He's hardly been seen since but it would come as no surprise if he's been trained with this meeting in mind once again. Favoured Nation is reliable but hasn't gone this far before so Patrick Cowley's claim should prove most beneficial, whilst Pigeon Island, back to form latest at Ffos Las, is another with unconfirmed stamina. Contrastingly, there are no trip concerns about Copper Birch and course and distance scorer, Qulinton, and both can play a part but the choice is THOMAS WILD. Laden with stamina, he scored over further than this on his penultimate start at Exeter and, crucially should rain arrive, is not ground dependent.
