Verdict

Maiden bumpers are usually for the brave and if playing it's usually best to go with yards that boast strong records in such contests. David Pipe fields The Bank Manager who is presumably much better than his debut run showed when a tailed-off favourite at Towcester, whilst Star Of Salford, who showed little in three 2014 starts, now has a first run for the Greatrex team which takes these races very seriously. Instingtive needs checking for the Harry Fry team which also does really well in bumpers, whilst I'dliketheoption, a son of Presenting, is certainly bred for the game. The choice is WATERLORD though, a son of Cape Cross and unraced for Mark Johnston, and who now represents the in-form John Ferguson team. However, the key advice here is to check the market which often proves so useful in such contests, especially one with so little form to go on.
