In depth
Verdict
The key to this race is Bleu Superbe, who has two ways of running, but if he gets it right he can land the prize from Ei Ei, Perange and Joey Tribbiani. Venetia Williams' gelding was not at his best in the Spring and seems to either complete the course and win, or be pulled up. The latter has occurred on his last three starts, but he did win nicely at both Newbury and Doncaster last winter and enjoys a sound surface. After a two month break to freshen him up and a 4lb drop he is a tentative selection. Ei Ei should be the one to take them along. This genuine front-runner loves fast ground and this sort of trip. He also jumps well and is in good heart, so should not be far away as he has not stopped improving. One who would ideally prefer further is Perange, a winner last time out at Newton Abbot, but one who also prefers a bit of cut, and he may not be seen to best effect here. Another to consider is the improving Joey Tribbiani, who comes into the race in form after two wins from three starts and also on the upgrade. Expect him to give the selection most to do.
