Verdict

Ollie Magern can shrug off topweight to defeat Jonalton and Cherry Gold, in what looks a three-cornered affair. The selection struggled to defy his penalty when second over the course and distance recently, having followed up his win on the track with a victory at Hereford. He has the scope to win one or two more races though before going chasing and should have too much experience for the others, the best of whom could be Jonalton. Disappointing on the Flat, he popped in at the first time of asking over timber at Southwell and should progress if not too highly tried. Cherry Gold was a consistent sort between the flags and has picked up consecutive wins in novice hunter chase company. He may be taken off his feet by the selection here though and will be happier back over the bigger obstacles. The rest make no appeal and Ollie Magern should take the beating.
