        Verdict

        In a poor contest a chance is taken on the fitness and chasing ability of Thrashing. Simon Earle's gelding has not been seen in public since beating Song For Jess by a head in a handicap hurdle at Wolverhampton in July 2001 off a mark of 93. The eight-year-old now makes his chasing debut and an ability to jump, plus fitness, has to be taken on trust. However, the son of Khayasi looks potentially well treated off a mark of 90 and, in such a poor contest, he has to be respected. Top weight Arctic Gamble has been dropped in the weights since his last run but has shown little sign of encouragement, while both Tino and Flinders have shown no sign of reproducing winning form since recording their recent successes.
