In depth
Verdict
This should not take a great deal of winning, as it has the look of a strictly second division contest, comprising mainly of no-hopers. Jan's Dream has a squeak on last season's placed form, but has to overcome topweight. Isca Maiden in contrast is lightly weighted, but was a beaten favourite at Plumpton last time. The going was very heavy though and she might fare a little better this time, without being good enough. Italian Counsel seems a bit high in the handicap, while Jupon Vert returns to fences after a spell over timber that saw him land a moderate seller. The vote goes to Adalie, third over hurdles at Chepstow on her first run back for Philip Hobbs. Although not always finding as much as required in the past, the transition to the bigger obstacles may be the making of her, and let's be honest, she does not have a great deal to beat.
