Verdict

Richard Fahey can do little wrong with his runners at present and his representative here, Jack O'Lantern, has to be considered in this maiden but the son of Shamardal was turned over at odds on at Musselburgh last month and he looks best left out of calculations after that effort in a contest taken to go to COCKNEY CLASS, who gets the vote with Pelmanism rated the best of the rest. The selection ran well in both starts as a juvenile when finishing third in novice races at both Ascot and Newmarket and Brian Meehan's colt looks worth siding with on his reappearance over a trip that clearly suits. Alan Swinbank's Boss's Destination has been fairly well held in both outings in maiden auction races and of more interest may be Bryan Smart's Bajan Flash, who stepped up from a promising debut effort when a close third to Transamit in a Catterick maiden last time. Jedd O'Keeffe's Fifty Moore should be good enough to win races but probably not today and a bigger threat is likely to come from Kevin Ryan's Pelmanism, who ran better than expected on his Pontefract debut last month. Cockney Class has solid claims on juvenile form though and, provided that he has trained on from two to three, he looks the one to beat.
