Verdict
This is a competitive race with plenty of in-form horses set to line up; our pick of them is SIR GEORGE who can get the better of French Art and Celtic Step. Our selection ran another solid race when just touched off at Beverley and providing he's over those exertions another bold display is in store. His readiness is more of a concern that the 2lb rise given by the handicapper and with Ian Brennan in the plate this gelding, who generally does take his racing well, should be thereabouts from a good draw. West End Lad showed he doesn't need to be racing at Nottingham to show his best form when scoring nicely last time but this prominent racer hasn't been done any favours by the draw so a bigger threat may be French Art, for whom conditions will be ideal and the 6lb rise he has incurred for winning well last time doesn't appear excessive. Hits Only Jude was back in second that day and is better off at the weights but our feeling is French Art will confirm the form, whilst Celtic Step is another with each-way claims. He's very well handicapped on his best and should be watched with interest, but this is his first run of the year and perhaps he'll need it. This is arguably the most competitive race of the night, with Sir George narrowly preferred.
