    Verdict

FISTRAL is our idea of the most likely winner with Baan and Spiders Star the most pertinent dangers on the book. Peter Niven's runner has dropped down the weights somewhat in recent weeks and while that isn't necessarily a reason to be backing horses, the fact that connections were so keen to get Paul Hanagan aboard certainly is. The ground should suit and he has few issues in relation to the trip. Baan won a recent Yarmouth handicap. It was a long time between drinks as far as winning was concerned but if Hugh Collingridge has got to the bottom of any woes, he could be very well handicapped. Spiders Star is bidding for her hattrick having dotted up at Beverley and Thirsk. All credit goes to connections for campaigning her well and keeping faith with the useful apprentice, Paul Pickard. Abstract Folly hasn't been seen since pulling up at Wetherby over chase fences. The market is watched to see how straight he is on a reappearance bow. Course-and-distance scorer, Squirtle, has been a little disappointing of late so Tom McLaughlin is tried in the plate rather than her usual rider. Front Rank is a useful hurdler though he hasn't offered that much on the level to speak of. Fistral is our fancy in the staying handicap.
