Verdict
Boardman was fancied for a valuable pot at Chester and kept on well at the death. Northern Express shaped well on reappearance and may be capable of defying the handicapper’s riposte. Cold Stare is at his best on a softer surface and though ANOTHER BATT has proved hard to win with, he did land this prize last year and he returns to defend his honour off just a 2lb higher mark this afternoon. Mobashr remains an unknown quantity on the Turf having raced exclusively on artificial surfaces for the best part of a year.
