Verdict

McGillycuddy Reeks is only 2lbs higher than when scoring at Catterick last time but may not have the race run to suit and is passed over in favour of Swynford Pleasure, who gets the vote over the well handicapped pair of Celtic Style and Mumbling. James Hetherton's mare needs holding up until the last possible moment and is not the easiest of rides but David Allan is a decent apprentice and good value for his 3lb claim, which offsets some of the mare's 6lb rise since winning at Pontefract two starts ago. Mark Johnston's Celtic Style has shown very little worthwhile form since his two-year-old days, while Mumbling is difficult to recommend on recent evidence although a return to front-running tactics would see him go close. A market move for Prize Ring would be interesting.
