In depth

Verdict

This looks competitive with The Armed Man and ROUND THE ISLAND displaying improved form this term and looking open to further improvement. Both will need to do so as they step up in grade but the Whitaker inmate landed a decent Pontefract handicap in good style last time under his talented apprentice and the combination is taken to follow up. Paula Muir gets a really good tune out of The Armed Man who is well worth a short-list spot, as is Crosse Fire who rather dispelled the notion that he's only a Southwell specialist with a solid Pontefract effort earlier this month behind Oriental Splendour - Josephine Gordon is an eye-catching booking. Robben Rainbow is the unexposed one to note for a shrewd stable but Merdon Castle's latest success came rather out of the blue and Seamster, though solid and consistent, has looked in the grip of the handicapper of late.
