Verdict
Despite topweight, Charlotte Vale is selected to add to last year's success in this event, with the opposition headed by Farne Isle and Safirah. Not many line up in form here, and so Micky Hammond must be confident that Charlotte Vale can repeat the feat after her recent encouraging effort at Hamilton where she found only Dance To My Tune too good. That was only her third outing of the year, and as she did not reappear until May, it is safe to assume that she has been aimed at this event again. Set to race off only a 5lb higher mark, and with the ground to suit the daughter of Pivotal, she is the one to beat again. The opposition does not look very inspiring, but Farne Isle is fit from a fairly profitable campaign over hurdles, and had a recent outing on the Flat at Ripon so is worth considering for a place. Safirah is well treated compared to her win at Redcar last November, and she will go on the ground as well, so is the other to consider, but the market will have to be relied on to reveal if any of the others are fancied. Even if they are though, we still prefer Charlotte Vale.
