In depth

Verdict

MISTRESS OF VENICE had some decent form for James Given before joining Ken Condon and made a bright start for the yard in a huge field at Navan. She couldn't quite shake off Empire State at Dundalk but was conceding 6lb to Aidan O'Brien's odds-on chance and can go one better. The winner's yard is represented by Captainofthebounty, who was well behind the selection at Navan and has since run poorly at Naas. That's Mad finished runner-up in that former event but hasn't done as well as expected in subsequent starts while Royal Court continues to frustrate though did run his best race when in front of the latter on fast ground at Navan on his penultimate start. Sunset Nova was beaten in a tight finish over 6f at Sligo and that looks his trip.
